Valley Christian High School's rigorous academic program and Christian mission produce students who bring both academic preparation and personal conviction to everything they do. The college list Valley Christian students pursue includes Christian universities alongside UC campuses and selective private colleges, a range that encompasses different testing expectations.
Christian universities like Biola, Westmont College, and Pepperdine have varying testing policies, checking each school's current admissions page is the most reliable approach. The UCs are test-blind, so they see no scores at all for admission or for their own awards, though the Regents revisit that policy by June 2027. Scores still support course placement after enrollment. UC Berkeley and UCLA are aspirational schools for many Valley Christian students, and while those campuses see no scores, strong scores still carry weight at the private universities on a typical Valley Christian list.
Valley Christian's science and mathematics programs are strong, and students who come to Michael from these tracks often have solid quantitative foundations for the SAT math sections. The verbal sections, particularly the evidence-based reading passages on the digital SAT, are where students from STEM-heavy tracks sometimes need specific preparation. Michael's diagnostic identifies the section balance for each student and builds the preparation plan accordingly.
The current ACT changes are relevant: Science is now optional. Valley Christian students who previously chose the SAT because it did not include a Science section should now consider both tests equally. Michael evaluates both during the free trial and makes a specific recommendation.
The Trial Session
The free trial on Zoom includes a diagnostic, direct work with Michael, and a follow-up call with both student and parent. Michael presents a specific recommendation: which test gives the student the best opportunity, how far their score may be able to go, a recommended training plan, and which upcoming test dates are most strategic. No financial commitment until both sides agree.
Every Session
Sessions are two hours long and combine individualized coaching, structured practice, and timed work using official SAT and ACT material. Students stay actively engaged while receiving ongoing guidance and feedback from Michael throughout the session. No homework.
The Guarantee
Students who complete the agreed program and are not satisfied with their results continue at no additional cost after the agreed session cap until they are satisfied or available testing opportunities have been exhausted.

Preparation timelines vary based on a student’s goals, starting point, and upcoming test dates. Some students begin as early as January of their sophomore year, particularly those with National Merit goals. Many students begin preparation during the summer before junior year, with the period after July 4th being a common starting point. Students entering senior year often begin preparation during the summer before senior year, depending on their goals and testing plans. Michael’s free trial session includes a diagnostic and a personalized recommendation based on each student’s individual situation.
Several test centers are available across the South Bay and Peninsula. Check current availability at collegeboard.org (SAT) or act.org (ACT). Bay Area centers fill 5 to 6 weeks before test day.
