Private Online ACT Mentors – Adjusting to the Coronavirus Pandemic: Test Prep Sessions Now Online

 
Test prep classes are currently conducted using the online platform Zoom. They will last as long and cost the same as our typical in-person test prep sessions do.
 
Now, he or she will study from home, as opposed to doing work within a group. The student will not sit with me in person; instead, he or she will meet with me using the online platform Zoom.
 
Sessions will continue to be scheduled the same way at http://www.mrtestprep.acuityscheduling.com
 
The Zoom meeting info will be sent along with the scheduled appointment confirmation emails.
 
When recommended practice tests will be taken at home and evaluated in our test prep sessions.
 
You will be billed through e-mail.
 
This too shall pass hopefully sooner than later. In the meantime, be safe and calm amidst these unprecedented times.

I  took the PSAT in 10th and 11th grade and found it utterly awful. I’ve never been a big fan of standardized tests, but I knew I’d have to take either the ACT or SAT in college. I was nervous about them because I didn’t score as well on the PSAT as I hoped. In 11th grade, I actually did worse on the PSAT than I did in 10th grade. I thought that this was a clear indicator that I would fail the SAT/ACT and wouldn’t get into a college that I loved. I started with Michael after a recommendation from my college counselor. I appreciated his unorthodox approach, but his encouragement sets Mr. Test Prep apart from other testing organizations. No other company has a Michael, so to speak. Of course, he taught me how to understand the structure of SAT questions, recognize patterns, and learn proper testing strategies. This all helped my score improve exponentially (around 400 points from 11th grade PSAT), but I benefitted the most from his confidence in me. Michael’s methodology is unlike any other tutor I’ve worked with before, and the results I got with him were unmatchable. The group setting allowed me to go back and forth between working on my own just like a testing setting AND breaking down my sections while they’re fresh in my mind. While many other tutors believe in using homework as a studying tool, whenever I would attend my next session with them,  I couldn’t remember why I chose the answers I did. By confining my work to my sessions with Michael, I was able to evaluate my thought process for each answer and correct my mistakes MUCH more efficiently.
 
Rather than most tutor’s standard lesson plan (even for one on one sessions), Michael tailors each session to what that individual student needs. My best sections were tested less frequently, and more time was spent on the sections I struggled with.
 
Michael understands the interplay between testing and his student’s mindset. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I have had extreme difficulty performing well on exams even when I know the material front to back. After two meditation sessions, I meditated every morning and night about a week preceding each of my SAT exams (as well as actually during my SAT) I felt less anxious, more at ease and extremely more confident.
 
What it boils down to is Michael truly understands his students and creates a relationship and bond with them like NO other tutor. He creates a completely safe space where mistakes aren’t scrutinized, they’re looked at as a place to improve. I improved my SAT score by about 350, but, beyond that, I can look back at my sessions with him and only have positive memories. Going to Michael was one of the best decisions I made. I genuinely looked forward to my sessions with him, and no other tutor can match that.

For the time being, all our free trial sessions and test prep are held online.
 
For the trial session, we will be meeting via the online platform Zoom.
 
To be able to get the most out of the trial session, it is best for the student to remain undisturbed for two hours.
 
When you sign up for your free trial session, the Zoom link and instructions will be provided.
 
I will be present for the first 15 minutes of our trial session.

Mr. Romano is the best tutor I have ever worked with… EVER!! I had gone to previous SAT prep centers, but none of them gave me the help and results that Mr. Romano did! One thing that was different with Mr. Romano, was that I actually enjoyed attending his test preps, and would even look forward to them!! Mr. Romano is simply the best. Upon entering Mr. Romano’s test prep, I knew little about the SAT. The knowledge and wisdom that I inherited from Michael is truly priceless. I had gone to over three different standardized testing tutors in the Bay Area since my freshman year. All left me unsatisfied, with mediocre results and my mother constantly reprimanding me for spending so much money on multiple exams and different tutors. On a whim, we tried Mr. Test Prep. Many of my friends had gone to him and raved about how his tutoring style is unique, effective, and definitely worth the money. They all succeeded in their standardized test preps, why shouldn’t I?
I can clearly remember Mr. Test Prep’s response when I said, “I’m no good at math and science.” He said, “Don’t think that way! These questions are easy if you think of them as easy. Michael Romano is the best. No exceptions. My first experience with SAT prep was with a not-so-great company, so I was at first reluctant to try Mr Test Prep. Boy, was I wrong — I should have started with him from the beginning! In the first half hour of the trial session he told me that I was probably better suited for the ACT. I tried my hand at that instead, and scored significantly higher. Mr Test Prep also helped me prepare for the PSAT, and now I am a National Merit Scholar.
