One-On-One ACT Coaches Online – Adjusting to the COVID-19 Pandemic: Test Prep Classes Now Online

 
We are now holding SAT and ACT test prep sessions online through Zoom. They are going to last as long as in-person test prep classes and will also cost the same.
 
Now, the student will not study within a group, but he or she will study from home. The student will not sit with me in person; instead, he or she will connect with me via the online platform Zoom.
 
Sessions will continue to be scheduled the same way at http://www.mrtestprep.acuityscheduling.com
 
When you schedule your appointments The Zoom link and instructions will be included in the confirmation emails.
 
When it is time for a practice test, it will be taken at home and then evaluated during our test prep classes.
 
You will be invoiced through email.
 
This too shall pass hopefully sooner than later. Meanwhile, stay safe and calm amid these unprecedented times.

I  took the PSAT in 10th and 11th grade and found it utterly awful. I’ve never been a big fan of standardized tests, but I knew I’d have to take either the ACT or SAT in college. I was nervous about them because I didn’t score as well on the PSAT as I hoped. In 11th grade, I actually did worse on the PSAT than I did in 10th grade. I thought that this was a clear indicator that I would fail the SAT/ACT and wouldn’t get into a college that I loved. I started with Michael after a recommendation from my college counselor. I appreciated his unorthodox approach, but his encouragement sets Mr. Test Prep apart from other testing organizations. No other company has a Michael, so to speak. Of course, he taught me how to understand the structure of SAT questions, recognize patterns, and learn proper testing strategies. When you imagine a test prep tutor, what kind of person do you think of?
I’m the type of person who never worked well with adults who tried to push me or made me feel stupid, and that’s why I was really reluctant to try SAT prep.
But Michael Romano surprised me by defying the stereotype of the traditional harsh, nitpicky tutor time and time again. He never forces students to study or do homework assignments, and because he did not, I felt genuinely inspired to put in the effort on my own behalf. Rather than someone else driving my progress, I felt as though I held the reigns to my own improvement on the SAT.
I won’t talk about how Michael comes up with neat strategies for the trickiest of math and reading problems, how he’s an endlessly patient teacher, or how he made every seemingly impossible question look easy and conquerable. He did all of these things. But I think what truly makes Michael special is the effort he puts into each relationship with his students. As a high school student, it’s pretty common to get extremely stressed out about standardized testing. But “stressed” is the last word I would ever use to describe Michael’s personality. Trial Sessions in the Coronavirus Pandemic
 
We are currently conducting all our free trial sessions and test prep online.
 
Once someone has scheduled a trial session, we will be connecting using the online platform Zoom.
 
To get the most out of the trial session, the student will need a place to work where he or she will remain uninterrupted for two hours.
 
Once you book a free trial session, the Zoom meeting info will be sent along with your confirmation email.
 
I am going to be present for the first 15 minutes of the session.
 

 
What Happens After The Trial Session?
 
After the trial session, I will get in touch with a parent and will talk about my test prep recommendations.
 
If your trial session is on a Saturday, I will contact you between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Monday. And in case your trial session is on a Sunday, I will call you between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Tuesday.|If your trial session takes place on a Saturday, I am going to call the parent between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Monday. If your trial session is on a Sunday, I will contact the parent between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Tuesday.

Mr. Romano is simply the best. Upon entering Mr. Romano’s test prep, I knew little about the SAT. The knowledge and wisdom that I inherited from Michael is truly priceless. I had gone to over three different standardized testing tutors in the Bay Area since my freshman year. All left me unsatisfied, with mediocre results and my mother constantly reprimanding me for spending so much money on multiple exams and different tutors. On a whim, we tried Mr. Test Prep. Many of my friends had gone to him and raved about how his tutoring style is unique, effective, and definitely worth the money. They all succeeded in their standardized test preps, why shouldn’t I?
I can clearly remember Mr. Test Prep’s response when I said, “I’m no good at math and science.” He said, “Don’t think that way! These questions are easy if you think of them as easy. Let me break ‘em down for you…” Ever since then, the ACT has not intimidated me with the daunting math and science sections. His tricks to make sure I didn’t make any “silly” mistakes even increased my scores to near-perfection in the subjects that I was stronger in – reading, writing, and English! Michael Romano is the best. No exceptions. My first experience with SAT prep was with a not-so-great company, so I was at first reluctant to try Mr Test Prep. Boy, was I wrong — I should have started with him from the beginning! In the first half hour of the trial session he told me that I was probably better suited for the ACT. I tried my hand at that instead, and scored significantly higher. Mr Test Prep also helped me prepare for the PSAT, and now I am a National Merit Scholar.
