Making the Testing Process Clear for Capuchino Families
Capuchino High School's student population includes families for whom college admissions is new territory. The SAT and ACT are surrounded by a layer of strategy and information that families with prior college experience take for granted, when to take the test, how many times, how to understand score potential for a particular college list, whether the SAT or ACT is the better fit for a given student.
Michael's trial session and parent follow-up call address all of this directly. The diagnostic gives each student a concrete starting point. The follow-up call gives parents a plain-language explanation of what the results mean, which test gives the student the best opportunity, how far their score may be able to go, the recommended training plan, and what the total cost would be before any financial commitment is made.
The ACT's 2025 changes make a difference for students from Capuchino's diverse academic tracks. Science is now optional and does not count toward the composite score. The total testing time dropped to approximately two hours. For students who previously saw the ACT as too long or too science-heavy, the current format is meaningfully different and worth evaluating alongside the SAT.
Bay Area test centers near San Bruno and Millbrae fill quickly. Capuchino students and families should register for test dates as soon as the registration window opens, typically several months before the test date. Michael includes specific test date recommendations and registration guidance as part of every plan he presents after the trial session.
