1-On-1 Zoom ACT Coaches – Test Prep During the Coronavirus Pandemic

 
We are now holding SAT and ACT test prep classes online using Zoom. They are going to last as long and cost as much as our typical test prep sessions do.
 
Now, he or she will work from home, as opposed to doing work in a group setting. Instead of sitting with me in the same room, he or she will meet with me online.
 
As before, sessions will still be scheduled at http://www.mrtestprep.acuityscheduling.com
 
Your scheduled online SAT/ACT test prep appointment confirmation notifications will have all the info you will need for accessing the Zoom meeting.
 
If practice tests are recommended, they will be taken from your home and then assessed in the test prep classes.
 
You will be invoiced through e-mail.
 
This too shall pass hopefully sooner than later. In the meantime, stay safe and calm amidst the chaos.

Michael’s methodology is unlike any other tutor I’ve worked with before, and the results I got with him were unmatchable. The group setting allowed me to go back and forth between working on my own just like a testing setting AND breaking down my sections while they’re fresh in my mind. While many other tutors believe in using homework as a studying tool, whenever I would attend my next session with them,  I couldn’t remember why I chose the answers I did. By confining my work to my sessions with Michael, I was able to evaluate my thought process for each answer and correct my mistakes MUCH more efficiently.
 
Rather than most tutor’s standard lesson plan (even for one on one sessions), Michael tailors each session to what that individual student needs. My best sections were tested less frequently, and more time was spent on the sections I struggled with.
 
Michael understands the interplay between testing and his student’s mindset. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I have had extreme difficulty performing well on exams even when I know the material front to back. After two meditation sessions, I meditated every morning and night about a week preceding each of my SAT exams (as well as actually during my SAT) I felt less anxious, more at ease and extremely more confident.
 
What it boils down to is Michael truly understands his students and creates a relationship and bond with them like NO other tutor. He creates a completely safe space where mistakes aren’t scrutinized, they’re looked at as a place to improve. I improved my SAT score by about 350, but, beyond that, I can look back at my sessions with him and only have positive memories. Going to Michael was one of the best decisions I made. I genuinely looked forward to my sessions with him, and no other tutor can match that.

Adjusting to the Coronavirus Crisis: Trial Sessions Currently Online
 
For the time being, all our free trial sessions and test prep are conducted online.
 
Once someone has scheduled a trial session, we will be meeting online using Zoom.
 
The student is going to need a place to work where he or she can stay uninterrupted for two hours.
 
Once you register for your free trial session, the Zoom link and instructions will be provided.
 
I am going to be present for the first 15 minutes of our session.
 

 
After The Trial Session
 
I will be in touch with a parent and will talk about my test prep proposal during a follow-up phone call.
 
In case your trial session takes place on a Saturday, I am going to call you between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Monday. And if the trial session is on a Sunday, I will contact you between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Tuesday.|If your trial session takes place on Saturday, I am going to contact the parent between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Monday. If your trial session is on Sunday, I will contact the parent between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Tuesday.

Mr. Romano is the best tutor I have ever worked with… EVER!! I had gone to previous SAT prep centers, but none of them gave me the help and results that Mr. Romano did! One thing that was different with Mr. Romano, was that I actually enjoyed attending his test preps, and would even look forward to them!! Mr. Romano is simply the best. Upon entering Mr. Romano’s test prep, I knew little about the SAT. The knowledge and wisdom that I inherited from Michael is truly priceless. While at Mr. Test Prep’s, Michael helped me zone in and conquer the areas in which I was struggling. Mr. Romano was very encouraging and supportive to me every time I was in his presence. I had gone to over three different standardized testing tutors in the Bay Area since my freshman year. All left me unsatisfied, with mediocre results and my mother constantly reprimanding me for spending so much money on multiple exams and different tutors. On a whim, we tried Mr. Test Prep. Many of my friends had gone to him and raved about how his tutoring style is unique, effective, and definitely worth the money. They all succeeded in their standardized test preps, why shouldn’t I?
I can clearly remember Mr. Test Prep’s response when I said, “I’m no good at math and science.” He said, “Don’t think that way! These questions are easy if you think of them as easy. Let me break ‘em down for you…” Ever since then, the ACT has not intimidated me with the daunting math and science sections. His tricks to make sure I didn’t make any “silly” mistakes even increased my scores to near-perfection in the subjects that I was stronger in – reading, writing, and English! Michael Romano is the best. No exceptions. My first experience with SAT prep was with a not-so-great company, so I was at first reluctant to try Mr Test Prep. Boy, was I wrong — I should have started with him from the beginning! In the first half hour of the trial session he told me that I was probably better suited for the ACT. I tried my hand at that instead, and scored significantly higher. Mr Test Prep also helped me prepare for the PSAT, and now I am a National Merit Scholar.
