In March 2020, we had to switch our test prep classes to an online format and we have seen our best results since. Because of that, we continue to offer ACT and SAT test prep sessions online through Zoom. See below for more information about how our online format is structured.
 

Online test prep sessions – What is different compared to in-person classes?

  • During the online classes, the student does not study within a group, but he or she works from home. And instead of meeting me in person, he or she is going to do so virtually.
  • Students will be able to schedule online sessions at http://www.mrtestprep.acuityscheduling.com
  • The Zoom meeting info will be sent along with the scheduled appointment confirmation notices.
  • If it is time for a practice test, it will be taken from your home and reviewed in the test prep classes.
  • You will be billed via e-mail.

Michael’s methodology is unlike any other tutor I’ve worked with before, and the results I got with him were unmatchable. The group setting allowed me to go back and forth between working on my own just like a testing setting AND breaking down my sections while they’re fresh in my mind. While many other tutors believe in using homework as a studying tool, whenever I would attend my next session with them, I couldn’t remember why I chose the answers I did. By confining my work to my sessions with Michael, I was able to evaluate my thought process for each answer and correct my mistakes MUCH more efficiently.
 
Rather than most tutor’s standard lesson plan (even for one on one sessions), Michael tailors each session to what that individual student needs. My best sections were tested less frequently, and more time was spent on the sections I struggled with.
 
Michael understands the interplay between testing and his student’s mindset. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I have had extreme difficulty performing well on exams even when I know the material front to back. After two meditation sessions, I meditated every morning and night about a week preceding each of my SAT exams (as well as actually during my SAT) I felt less anxious, more at ease and extremely more confident.
 
What it boils down to is Michael truly understands his students and creates a relationship and bond with them like NO other tutor. He creates a completely safe space where mistakes aren’t scrutinized, they’re looked at as a place to improve. Each student will require a silent place where he or she can work for two hours without being interrupted.
 
Once you register for your free trial session, the Zoom meeting info will be provided.

After the trial session, I will connect with a parent and will discuss my test prep suggestions.
 
If your trial session is on Saturday, I am going to contact you between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Monday. If the trial session takes place on a Sunday, I am going to call you between 6 pm and 8 pm on the following Tuesday.

Mr. Romano is simply the best. Upon entering Mr. Romano’s test prep, I knew little about the SAT. The knowledge and wisdom that I inherited from Michael is truly priceless. I had gone to over three different standardized testing tutors in the Bay Area since my freshman year. All left me unsatisfied, with mediocre results and my mother constantly reprimanding me for spending so much money on multiple exams and different tutors. On a whim, we tried Mr. Test Prep. I can clearly remember Mr. Test Prep’s response when I said, “I’m no good at math and science.” He said, “Don’t think that way! These questions are easy if you think of them as easy. Michael Romano is the best. No exceptions. My first experience with SAT prep was with a not-so-great company, so I was at first reluctant to try Mr Test Prep. Boy, was I wrong — I should have started with him from the beginning! In the first half hour of the trial session he told me that I was probably better suited for the ACT. I tried my hand at that instead, and scored significantly higher. Mr Test Prep also helped me prepare for the PSAT, and now I am a National Merit Scholar.
