The November and December SAT are important dates. If you are a senior, this may be your last chance to take

the SAT and still apply for admission to colleges and for scholarships for next fall. If you are a junior, this might

be the best time to take your first SAT.

Seniors

Seniors, admissions deadlines typically fall around the first of the year. If you want to take one more shot at the SAT before you send in applications, you should do it November. December’s scores will likely arrive on time, but taking the exam in November will give you plenty of wiggle room. It is important that you have your scores sent directly to the colleges you are applying to. You will be very pressed for time if you wait to see your scores and then request they be sent.

Juniors

Juniors, November or December is a great time to take the SAT. You can take the exam and then have winter break to relax while you wait for the score to come back. If you are satisfied with your score, you won’t have to worry about the exam anymore. Should you want to take it again, you can take it in the spring or even next fall.

Registration

If you plan to take the SAT this November or December you will need to register in advance. The deadline for November registration is approaching quickly on October 5th. You can register late, but you will have to pay $29.00 extra. If you miss both registration deadlines, you may request to be put on the waitlist. You can request to be on this list up to five days before the exam. If there is space, you will be allowed to take the test. You are not guaranteed admittance and you will be charged an extra $49.00 if you are admitted to the exam. Your safest bet is to register by the first date; October 5th for the November exam and November 2nd for the December exam. You can register by mail, phone, or online. The easiest way to register is online at the College Board website
