The ACT requires two very important pieces of ID to be admitted to take the exam. It is important that you are aware of these long before the day of the exam so that you won’t have any surprises when you show up for the test.
Ticket
The ACT requires that you submit a photo for your ticket to enter the exam. This photo must be submitted by a specific date before the exam, typically it is 8 days prior to the exam date. Specific dates for each test day are provided on the ACT website. You can upload a picture from your computer or use a mobile app to submit your picture.
Headshot
The picture needs to be a full headshot against a plain background. Make sure the photo includes your entire face and doesn’t have any harsh lighting that could make it challenging to see. The best way to go about getting this photo is to have a friend or family member take a photo specifically for submitting to the ACT. Then, you will be certain you have met the requirements. It is not likely that you already have another photo with only your face without a distracting background or other people in it.
Photo ID
In addition to your ticket, you will need a valid photo ID. A driver’s license or school ID are the two ideal forms of identification. Your first and last name must match what is listed on your ACT ticket. You must also have a recognizable photo. If you appearance has changed drastically or you don’t have a plastic card format school ID or driver’s license, you can submit the ACT Student Identification Form. This form must be notarized or signed by a school official. You will need to complete this well before the day of the exam.
Prepare Early
To avoid complications and reduce anxiety on an already stressful day, try to have all of your IDs in order and tickets printed and ready to go ten days before the exam. Then, you won’t miss any deadlines and you will have plenty of time to get help should you encounter any confusion or complications.
Good Reasons
It may feel like you need to jump through a lot of hoops just to take an exam, but the administrators of the ACT want to ensure that the test is fair for everyone and have taken important measures to ensure the integrity of the exam. If you are prepared, you will have no problems presenting the necessary ids on exam day.
More About Mr. Test Prep’s Los Gatos ACT SAT test prep tutoring Services
Michael Romano has been offering his Los Gatos SAT prep services for almost two decades. He’s seen thousands of kids and helped with just about every kind of standardized testing anxiety a student could have. This has taught him that increased scores come down to confidence. Yes, you have to understand the material, but confidence is—more often than not—the #1 cause of a student’s trouble with testing. Bearing that in mind, he has created an SAT tutoring program that builds confidence by desensitizing his students to the conditions of the test, while providing them with targeted instruction on both the academic content of the exam and the tips and tricks that make it so much easier.
