It is easy to procrastinate and avoid studying. Having the perfect study area might inspire you to get
started and have more productive study time. Here are four things you can do to make the perfect study
space.
Find the Perfect Location
Find a spot that meets your study needs. Try to have a space where distractions are at a minimum. For
some people this may be in a home office or a school library. Other people tend to feel lonely and quit
their studies early so they don’t feel isolated or left out. In this case, a kitchen table or coffee shop may be
the best spot to study. In either place try to remove distractions such as the TV or your phone, which will
interrupt your studies and keep you from staying focused.
Stay Comfortable
Make sure you feel comfortable while you are studying. You don’t want to be so comfortable that you get
sleepy, but you don’t want discomfort to distract you from your studies. Find a chair that is comfortable to
sit in, but also helps you sit in an alert and upright position. You will get more done when you sit upright at
a desk or table, than reclining on a couch or bed.
Clean Up
Clutter can be very distracting. Keep your study space organized and clean so that you have plenty of
room to spread out and focus on the books in front of you and not on the mountains of paper stacked all
around you.
Keep Positive
Keep your study space positive. Use bright, sunny colors to inspire you or write encouraging post-it notes
to look at when you are feeling discouraged. You can even hang up old papers or exams that received
good grades to remind you of your past successes .Your space should keep you energized and upbeat.
These four simple things can help you create the best study space for you. When you have an excellent
space to study, you can focus and get the job done.
