Each of us carries a self-image that shapes our perception of our own capabilities. This self-image is often limited by a combination of life experiences, some supportive and affirming, while others less so. Particularly in young individuals, this self-concept is constantly changing..

My approach involves dispelling my students’ doubts and fears, revealing them as largely unfounded, and persuading them of their untapped potential. This approach impacts their self-image in a way that it not only significantly improves standardized scores but also in a renewed belief in what they can achieve in life generally.

Throughout my work with students, I maintain a clear focus on my ultimate objective: While I may be assisting them in excelling on standardized tests, my true goal is to elevate more than just a score.

My program is not a conventional “one-on-one” tutoring approach. Drawing from my extensive tutoring experience spanning over two decades, I’ve discovered a more effective and less painful method for preparing students for these tests. In each 2-hour session, students engage in three private, one-on-one conferences with me, totaling approximately 20 minutes per student per session.

The value of each 2-hour session is multifaceted:

• Self-timed sections in a group environment similar to the actual testing environment
• Immediate correction of mistakes and tutoring to specific content or errors
• Test taking strategies given as they arise during test taking, making them more relevant and easier to remember and apply
• Confidence building with every interaction
• Session by session readjustment of areas of focus based on observable progress

Investments in both time and money may vary among students. However, regardless of their starting point, students who complete the predetermined number of sessions we agree upon have a strong likelihood of not only meeting but also surpassing their test preparation goals.

”I took the PSAT in 10th and 11th grade and found it utterly awful. I’ve never been a big fan of standardized tests, but I knew I’d have to take either the ACT or SAT in college. I was nervous about them because I didn’t score as well on the PSAT as I hoped. In 11th grade, I actually did worse on the PSAT than I did in 10th grade.
